Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar is one of the American and British sitar artist. She was among the youngest and first female to win a British House of Commons Shield she's had 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to perform live and to serve as a presenter at the award ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar, one of the Indian young sitar singer. She is the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982. She spent her early years shuttling from London as well as New Delhi. At the age of 13, her first show at New Delhi took place. Later she moved in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Even though she's very young, Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording record. She regularly accompanies her father on stage, which she's been doing for several years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. She released the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years following. Her stage career is very broad as she's been in every one of the biggest venues in the world. Her career extends beyond music. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was an Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka's career is still developing and she'll continue to achieve great success in the coming years. Anoushka Shakar, who was born in England spent a large part of her adult life in London Delhi. After moving to California she graduated from her high school. She started learning to play the guitar when she was nine years old and performed on the sitar for the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi the following year. Anoushka, who accompanied her father during his world tour, gained an incredible quantity of knowledge. In her teenage years she performed at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD as well as recorded with George Harrison. It is the House of Commons Shield was given in her honor from the British Parliament for being the pre-eminent Asian Arts musician. She is the sole female and is the smallest recipient of the award.
